MIXED FORTUNES

Apologies for late updating of this Blog have had a family bereavement and its thrown me a bit.
The Ladies Senior Fours travelled to Thatcham last week to play Kingston Bagpuize they were playing on a neutral rink because of the mileage difference. After 7 ends and after dropping a 4 they were 9 shots down but on the very next end they picked up a 6 . On the penultimate end they were only 2 down and the opposition were holding. The very last shot of the game was superbly executed and resulted in a win for the Thicket by 1 shot 20 19.
The second round was on Monday 12th July when they were up against a very strong team from Didcot. Unfortunately their luck deserted them and they never really found line or length and lost heavily. Never mind all good experience for next year.
On a very inclement Monday evening the quarter finals of the Men's Fours were at Tilehurst. After starting in bright sunshine the weather soon turned to heavy rain and the luck of the irish was not with us as the men were beaten by a strong 4 from Hagbourne.
Both teams of the men's pairs were also unlucky going out in the last 16.
We have one team left in the men's triples and they will play their Quarter finals on 16th July at Suttons B.C. Am sure they would appreciate some support.
On Saturday 17th July our Secretary Gemma Hanks is in the semi final of the Unbadged singles . She will be at Burghfield Bowling Club and is due to start at 2. 00 p.m

The following week on the 25th July Sue Goodchild and Maggie Scrace will be playing in the semi-finals of the pairs at Reading Bowling Club against Barbara Smith and Morgan Merryweather from Island Bohemian. They are scheduled for a 9.30 a.m. start. I am sure all the ladies would appreciate some support for those able to go along.
