There were lots of County Competitions across the week and I am afraid I haven't really caught up with all of them and a few of them were cancelled because the good old British Weather intervened.
On Monday 14th June the men had 3 teams in the County Fours and one of them got a good win so on to the next round for them
Nicola Jones is through to the Quarter Finals of the County Singles and Tom got through to the next round of the unbadged sadly Bob Owens came second.
There were also several lots of men's pairs in action during the week but I haven't got all the results yet.
Ladies Triples were due to play Royal Household on Friday afternoon but the weather intervened and the green was closed.
On Saturday Nicola Jones and Sheila Gwilliam travelled to Caversham for the last 16 of the County Two Wood Nicola won her first round but got knocked out in the quarter finals. Sheila lost her first round .
Sheila Jenny Bosley and Chris Howard played their postponed triples match on Saturday evening in gloomy conditions at Thicket and Household proved too strong for them. The other ladies involved in triples are due to play Monday weather permitting.
Last but not least the mixed double fours travelled to Thatcham on another miserable cold Sunday morning and after a very close game just failed to come out on top.
Well done to everyone who took place in County Competitions this week and sorry to any that I have missed

For those of you that read this blog apologies for late update it has been very busy here at Thicket HQ both with friendly games and County Competitions going on and I've not really caught up. Also a lot to remember
The Ladies had a good win against Trenthams in the TVL on June 3rd lets hope this continues when its for real next year. On Thursday June 8th they ladies also won by 29 shots in a friendly against Woodley Ladies. The game against Suttons Gems was cancelled.
On Wednesday 9th it was the County pairs with our in house teams playing against one another. It went the way of Maggie Scrace and Sue Goodchild. Congratulations to both on to Caversham for the quarter finals. Commiserations to Jenny and Nicolas it was a great game to watch.
On a very humid Saturday morning Nicola Jones was playing Mary Mackay from Maidenhead Town in the County Singles and this was a thrilling game to watch according to the watching few. Nicola got the win and goes on to the next round.
Over at Maidenhead Town it was a different story with Sheila Gwilliam and Maggie Scrace playing in a National Over 55's pairs game against Kim Eales and Jan Mayne, they never really got to grips with the green and came second.
The men have also been doing well in their County Comps with Dave Crooks winning his unbadged whilst Gordon Knapper and Melvyn Forward and Alan Leishman and Rodney Hing have progressed as have Kevin Scrace and his playing partner
Finally all three teams of our "Fours" are playing at Home on Monday evening 14th June
Please come along and support

With County Competitions in full swing and 2 friendly fixtures over the weekend members were kept very busy either supporting or playing.

On a horrible wet Friday Bridget Thrift and Pam Pulsford went to Maidenhead Town to play their County pairs but were up against a tough pair from Town and after Pam suffered a heavy fall they lost momentum and lost their game. Maggie Scrace and Sue Goodchild were at home to Wokingham and the weather had improved slightly. Sue and Maggie won their game and now play tonight Monday 7th June against a pair from Bracknell whilst our other ladies Pairs of Jenny Bosley and Nicola Jones are playing Kim Barao and Angie Isaac from Desborough both games at Maidenhead Thicket.

Ross Burton had a narrow defeat in his first every unbadged singles

On Saturday the club had a friendly away to Burnham and Burnham reaped the rewards from their home game and were the winners on a very heavy green . Also on Saturday Sheila Gwilliam was playing her County Wood against Jan Mayne from Town and won 16 8 and together with Nicola Jones they now go on to the last 16 which will be played at Three Mile Cross on 19th June.

On Sunday morning the mixed double fours were at home to rivals Maidenhead Town and after a very close game Thicket took the honours winning by 2 shots our President Bill Hing the Skip on Rink 2 playing a blinding shot on the last wood of the last end which enabled us to win the game by 2 shots.

Whilst Mixed Double Fours drama was unfolding at Thicket Tina Scherer and Pauline Tuttle two ladies who joined Thicket last year quietly drove over to Great Hollands to play their Senior pairs game after getting lost because of a sat nav malfunction they were not phased by this and went on to win their game. Well done Ladies

Last but not least at a friendly in the afternoon against Three Mile Cross Thicket were bought back down to earth and lost heavily .

Onwards and Upwards
